In a move to increase transparency in the local rental market, the City of Jacksonville has partnered with Jacksonville Area Legal Aid (JALA) to launch a new online resource for tenants. The website, jaxstablehousing.org, serves as a public registry where current and prospective renters can research specific properties within Duval County.
City of Jacksonville launches online rental registry
The City of Jacksonville and Jacksonville Area Legal Aid have launched a new online portal, jaxstablehousing.org, to provide transparency for renters. The tool allows users to search for property addresses to view historical data on code enforcement violations and eviction filings.
By entering an address into the portal, users can access three years of city code enforcement records to see if a property has a history of violations. While state law prevents the city from mandating that landlords register their properties, this tool provides a significant step toward accountability by aggregating public records into an easy-to-use search function for the public.
